The teakwood blocks for Goldfish bowl were cut in India during Lichtenstein's visit with the Sarabhai family in Ahmadabad in November 1978. In the spring of 1980 the artist took the blocks to Tyler graphics Ltd., where they were laminated to plywood panels to control warping and splitting, then reworked to improve registration.
